OPay is a popular mobile payment platform in Nigeria that provides users with a convenient and secure way to transfer money, pay bills, and purchase goods and services. However, if you lose your phone or disclose your account details, your OPay account may be vulnerable to unauthorized access and fraudulent activities. In such cases, it is essential to know how to freeze and unfreeze your account to protect your funds and personal information.
Freezing your OPay account is a simple and straightforward process that can be done using any phone. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Dial *955# on any phone.
- Select option 0 to access the “OPay Self-Service” menu.
- Select option 12 to access the “Block Account” menu.
- Select option 1 to confirm that you want to block your account.
- Enter the last four digits of your payment PIN to confirm the action.
Once you have successfully blocked your account, all transactions on your OPay account will be temporarily suspended. This means that no one can access your account or initiate any transactions until it is unfrozen.
To unfreeze your account and resume transactions, follow the steps below:
- Dial *955# on your registered phone number.
- Select option 0 to access the “OPay Self-Service” menu.
- Select option 12 to access the “Block Account” menu.
- Select option 1 to confirm that you want to unblock your account.
- Enter the last four digits of your payment PIN to confirm the action.
Once you have successfully unfrozen your account, you can resume using OPay for transactions.
It is important to note that if you are using an MTN network, you cannot block your account by dialing *955#. In such cases, you should contact OPay customer support immediately to block your account and prevent unauthorized access.
